Walt Disney Co. has fired Jonathan Majors from its upcoming Marvel films, IndieWire has confirmed with a rep for Marvel. There are no additional details about what the company’s next steps will be, or if the role of Kang the Conquerer will be recast.

The “Loki” Season 2 star and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” actor was found guilty of assault and harassment, a New York City jury found on Monday, December 18. Majors was found not guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated assault in the second degree in the December ruling.

Majors’ sentencing will take place on February 6, with the “Creed III” actor facing up to a year in jail.

Majors was slated to continue portraying Kang the Conqueror, a key figure in the next phase of the MCU, in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and 2026’s “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Rumors that Majors will be recast have circulated, however Marvel had declined to comment thus far.

Majors was arrested March 25, 2023 on charges of assault, strangulation, and harassment of ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who was hospitalized with “minor injuries to her head and neck” allegedly as a result of an incident with Majors. She was granted a full temporary order of protection ahead of the trial.

Later accusations against Majors surfaced of toxic on-set behavior of “Magazine Dreams.” A lawsuit against the actor was also filed in Britain citing multiple charges of assault stemming from various other accusers. To note, “Magazine Dreams” was removed from the release calendar by Disney/Searchlight prior to the verdict in Majors’ trial.

Since the numerous allegations, Majors was dropped by his management company Entertainment 360 and recast in multiple upcoming projects including Protagonist Pictures’ adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel “The Man in My Basement” and an unannounced Otis Redding biopic.

Majors’ criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry provided the following statement to IndieWire at the time of the actor’s arrest in March: “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations. All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”
