And Now For Singing Chickens: New Trailer For ‘The Muppets’ Is A Total Blast

If there was a way we could Benjamin Button ourselves back to being eight years old before watching the forthcoming “The Muppets,” we would, but as it stands, it looks like our adult selves are still gonna have a helluva time with the movie when it hits next month.

A brand new trailer has landed for the flick, and after the excellent string of movie parody trailers, this one offers the best look yet at the actual film. And we already can’t wait. Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, who wrote the screenplay, have nailed exactly the ineffable charm that made those felt-covered creations so memorable in our youth, and along with “Flight of the Conchords” veterans James Bobin (who is directing) and Bret McKenzie (who has penned the songs), they are delivering a spectacle with enough jokes and heart to go around. The new film will take place within a showbiz setting and follow the Muppets as they try to save their studio from a greedy oil baron (Chris Cooper) who wants to dig on site. Segel is the man who reunites the Muppets for one last show to save the studio, with Amy Adams as his girlfriend along for the ride with new Muppet Walter in tow. This trailer gives the first glimpses of the celebrity cameos by Jack Black, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris, but rightly keeps The Muppets themselves front and center.

What else can we say? This looks like the rare kids movie that’s going to play very, very well with audiences of any age. “The Muppets” opens on Thanksgiving. Watch below.
