Arnold Schwarzenegger To Star In ‘Black Sands’ Directed By ‘Act Of Valor’ Duo

Accident On The Set Of ‘The Expendables 2’ Kills One Stuntman & Injures Another

Bad news for “The Terminator” sequel? While that remains the big elephant in the room at the moment, Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t slowing down his comeback train one iota. He’s wrapped his work on “The Expendables 2” with his old pal Sly (who himself just landed “The Tomb” that Arnie was also eyeing at one point), is currently shooting Kim Ji-Woon‘s gritty thriller “The Last Stand” and now has a project he’ll tackle next spring.

Deadline reports that Arnie will star in “Black Sands” bizarrely described as a cross between “Man On Fire” and uh, “High Plains Drifter.” Penned by Skip Woods, whose dubious track record includes “Hitman,” “X-Men Origins: The Wolverine,” “The A-Team” and the forthcoming “A Good Day to Die Hard,” the movie actually just sounds like “Commando” minus Alyssa Milano, centering on a loner who wages war against a weapons manufacturer and his private army in South America. Didn’t we see this movie twenty-nine times in the 1980s? In case Skip Woods doesn’t strike fear in your heart, then this should. Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, who directed the forthcoming Navy recruitment movie “Act Of Valor” will get behind the camera on this. AMERICA! Fittingly, production stars on April Fool’s Day next year.

From one disaster to another, reports surfaced today that an accident on the set of “The Expendables 2” has killed on stuntman and injured another. None of the film‘s stars were present during the explosion that occurred during filming at the Ognyanovo Reservoir. “It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” Nu Image/Millennium Films, said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident.”
