What else is left to say about “The Muppets” at this point? The marketing campaign has been one of the best of any movie this year and while certain longtime Muppets handlers and hangers-on may be grumbling about the direction Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller have taken the beloved felt-covered creations in the upcoming James Bobin-directed movie, most everyone else can agree, they’ve done a great job.
As the parody trailers have attested, they’ve found a way to smart contemporize the Muppets while still keeping the spirit of the characters intact, and in the final spot that hit Facebook today, they’ve gone meta on us. Taking aim at “Paranormal Activity 3,” “Puss In Boots” and “Breaking Dawn” the latest is funny, still fresh, and left us with a big, goofy smile on our face. While the idea of sitting in a theater full of children to watch the latest drivel Hollywood has churned out for the little ones tends to be totally unappealing, this is the rare picture that we think will probably be best experienced with a younger audience, and one that will easily appeal to the grown-ups in the crowd as well.
We’re sold and ready to see this thing already. “The Muppets” arrive on November 23rd. Watch the trailer below.
