Sort of like the comedy world version of Jessica Chastain, the “Saturday Night Live” funnyman seemed to be everywhere this year. In addition to starring in “Hall Pass,” “Horrible Bosses” and “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy” he also hosted the MTV Movie Awards this summer and will feature in the final season of “Eastbound & Down.” And determined to make sure you see his face on the big screen at least once every few months in 2012, the actor has signed up for yet another project.
Sudeikis will feature alongside the always excellent Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis in the upcoming “Dog Fight” (formerly known as “Southern Rivals“). The Jay Roach-directed comedy centers on two politicians jockeying for a position in a small congressional district in South Carolina. He joins the recently cast Sarah Baker and Katherine LaNasa who play the wives in the film. No word yet on what his role will be, but it’s just one of two films Sudeikis has coming next year as he’ll also star in the massive comedy omnibus “Movie 43.”
With the 2012 election becoming more depressing with each passing day — the idea that we’re gonna have to listen to the nonsense spewed by any of those Republican candidates over the next year is soul-draining — at the very least, “Dog Fight” will arrive in time to remind us how silly these candidates can be. Filming kicks off in November and “Dog Fight” hits theaters on August 10, 2012. [THR]
