The epic battle between God and the Devil is going to happen right where it deserves to take place: on the big screen while you’re sucking back a jumbo cola and eating your way through a bucket of popcorn.
Alex Proyas continues to cast up his “Paradise Lost” and THR reports that the latest to come aboard is “Prison Break” bruiser Dominic Purcell. Best known for playing Lincoln Burrows on the hit Fox show or to some as Drake from “Blade: Trinity,” the actor will step up into the major tentpole flick playing Moloch, the right hand man to Bradley Cooper‘s Lucifer who argues in favor of a war against Heaven, and later becomes a pagan God. The big-budget, special effects-driven tentpole flick, will bring to life Milton’s masterpiece on the big screen, focusing on the epic battle between Michael (Benjamin Walker) and Lucifer. Djimon Honsou plays Abdiel, the angel of death, while Casey Affleck will get in touch with his heavenly side as Gabriel, God’s six-winged messenger and angel. Camilla Belle will be Eve, with Callan McAuliffe as Uriel, one of the seven archangels, who becomes Michael’s second-in-command in Heaven’s army.
The massive production will take place in Australia and will get under way in late 2011/early 2012, with 20 weeks set for pre-production, eight weeks of principal photography and a staggering 72 weeks of post-production. Yes, this will be destroy your eyeballs and given that schedule, this one won’t hit your local multiplex until the tail end of 2013.
