Soundtrack Details For ‘We Bought A Zoo’ Revealed, Includes Collab Between Jónsi & Cameron Crowe

Also Features 2 Brand New Songs From Jónsi

Cameron Crowe has always been known for his keen ear for music, curating each of his films with a carefully selected soundtrack, but the forthcoming “We Bought A Zoo” marks the first time he’s handed over the reins to a single artist. Over the summer it was revealed that Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi would be tuning up the film, but little did we know, Crowe himself would be lending an assist for one of the pieces for the movie.

The soundtrack details to the forthcoming film have been unveiled, as most of the fifteen tracks are dedicated to Jónsi’s score to the movie. However, fans of his buoyant solo work will be pleased to know that reworked versions of “Boy Lilikoi,” “Sinking Friendships” and “Go Do” from his debut solo album will be included as well. And perhaps somewhat obviously, Sigur Rós’ majestic (if over-used, and played out) “Hoppipolla” which appeared in the first trailer for the movie is also here as well. But the most pleasant surprise are two brand new songs from Jónsi — “Ævin Endar” and “Gathering Stories” — the latter of which is a collaboration with Crowe. The excellent Nico Muhly (“The Reader,” “Margaret“) — who also worked with Jónsi on Go — has assisted on the orchestral arrangements, and overall, this is certainly one we’re looking forward to.

The soundtrack will street on December 13th, with “We Bought A Zoo” arriving ten days later on December 23rd. Full tracklisting below. [Pitchfork]
