Watch: Happy Halloween, It’s Another Grim Trailer For ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’

The biggest movie showdown of the winter won’t belong to Lisbeth Salander and the evil she faces, nor Sherlock Holmes versus Moriaty or even Ethan Hunt and the enemies pursuing. Nope, it will belong to Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller, who match wits to tragic results in Lynne Ramsay‘s “We Need To Talk About Kevin.”

Yeah, we know. It feels like we’ve been talking about ‘Kevin’ all year, but it deserves the attention. Yes, it’s every bit as harrowing and devastating as you’ve heard, but it also marks a glorious return by Ramsay after a much too long absence from filmmaking and it proves yet again that Swinton is one of the best actresses going of any age, anywhere. Based on the novel by Lionel Shriver, the film chronicles the before and after of a devastating event that leaves a mother shattered after her son commits a horrific act. But that act is just a smaller piece of a much larger tapestry about the worst parent/child relationship you could ever imagine. Powerful and tough stuff.

The film goes into limited release on December 9th before opening wider in 2012. If it comes near you, go see it. It’ll definitely leave you wanting to talk. New trailer below (or in HD at Apple).
