The “Hostel” franchise was never any great piece of cinematic art. It basically just got a bunch of attractive young people together and then tortured them all for our cinematic “pleasure.” But as low rent as the series has been so far, the upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel is far more shallow and lame-brained than even we would have expected.
This time around, Eli Roth is not involved in “Hostel Part III,” this time passing the reins to Scott Spiegel who is no stranger to direct-to-DVD sequels having helmed “From Dusk Til Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money.” Anyway, a trailer has arrived and after a number of ass shots, the story is revealed to be about a couple of dudes who go to Las Vegas and then get more than they bargained for! No way. They are drawn into a game where rich people with nothing better to do bid on torturing them in various cruel ways, and apparently, something called a Wheel Of Misfortune is used. Clearly it was thought up by a demented, yet kind of totally unimaginative mind. And in case you’re wondering what ever happened to Kip Pardue, he stars in this, as does Thomas Kretschmann (who deserves much better).
In case you care, “Hostel 3” arrives on home video just in time to spend Grandma’s Christmas money on December 27th. Watch below. [via Quiet Earth]
