Anna Faris Rom-Com ‘What’s Your Number’ Is Much More Awesomely Titled ‘Sex List’ In France

Movie titles getting translated for foreign markets is a timeless, mostly very hilarious art, which usually results in all meaning or coherence being completely stripped from the name of the film. But rarely, like an eclipse, comes a translation that not only nails the premise of the film, but is actually in improvement on the original title.

Over in the much more sexually liberated France, the upcoming Anna Faris rom-com “What’s Your Number?” has been re-titled into the simple, straightforward “Sex List.” Nice. Co-starring Chris Evans, the film tells the story of a young woman who decides to revisit her exes to see if she missed Mr. Right because some stupid magazine article said that any woman who sleeps with more than twenty dudes is far less likely to get married. Spoiler alart: Mr. Right turns out be Captain America. So yeah, we’d rather see a movie titled “Sex List” rather than “What’s Your Number?” which sounds like a movie about a guy with no game at all who tries to pick up women.

Anyway, all this leads us to ask, is Fox planning on marketing this movie or what? A trailer arrived this spring but nothing has been happening since then, and with the film one month away from release, it’s smelling a little dead on arrival. Perhaps things will kick into gear in September and you know, it’s never too late to change the name for the U.S. as well. “Sex List” “What’s Your Number” opens on September 30th. [via CinemaBlend]
