So what happened to the soundtrack budget on the first part of the last installment of the “Twilight” franchise? While the first film rounded up folks like Muse, Perry Farrell, Linkin Park even RPatz himself, and “New Moon” raised the stakes considerably by going Pitchfork heavy with Thom Yorke, Lykke Li, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, St. Vincent and Death Cab For Cutie, ‘Breaking Dawn’ is considerably underachieving.
After some minor hoopla, the full tracklist for the soundtrack has been unveiled and it’s kind of boring. As was announced last week, the tepid Bruno Mars will get the lead single honors with “It Will Rain” that he says will address “the darker side of love” (check it out for yourself below). As for the rest, it’s mostly a bunch of people we’ve never heard of. Of note, there’s English indie rockers Noisettes, rising and actually pretty solid rapper Theophilus London and Iron & Wine who provides the “Wedding Version” of “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” that featured in the first movie, notably when Bella and Edward dance and talk at the prom (yeah, so bring your Kleenex twihards because we presume this is the song they’ll walk down the aisle to or something). And in case you’re wondering, Sia‘s contribution to the soundtrack was ultimately axed by the powers that be.
Anyway, the Bruno Mars song is on iTunes right now and you can head over to the official site to pre-order the soundtrack which hits on November 8th. Full tracklist below. [Chop Shop]
