George Clooney Needs Parenting Help In A New Clip From Alexander Payne’s ‘The Descendants’

If the reviews out of Telluride and Toronto are anything to go by, and they usually are, Alexander Payne and George Clooney may very well need to book an appointment with their respective tailors for sometime mid-February.

The two powerhouses joined forces for an adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings‘ “The Descendants” — scripted by Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash — which our own review described as a “riff on family, love, loss and death” centering on Matt King (Clooney), a wealthy Hawaiian man who takes his daughters (Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller) on a road trip to find the man his wife has been having an affair with, after a boating accident leaves her critically injured. The review went to describe it as “subtle and effective, combining universal themes (the loss of a loved one, the love for a child, the emotional pull of familial obligations) with the quirkiness that viewers have come to expect from an Alexander Payne film.” What more can you ask for?

A new clip has now been unveiled featuring the leading trio of Clooney, Woodley and Miller as they bicker with one another poolside, seemingly preceding the meeting of Clooney’s character and his daughter’s boyfriend “Sid,” portrayed in an earlier clip we reported on. Film will be rolling out into theaters on November 18th. Check out the clip after the jump.
