‘Homeland’ Star Diego Klattenhoff Joins Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’

Sometimes when one door closes, another one opens. You might recall that back this spring “Homeland” star Diego Klattenhoff was reported to be taking a role in Christopher Nolan‘s “The Dark Knight Rises.” As these things sometimes go, the scheduling couldn’t be worked out and he didn’t wind up doing the film, but fall is here and the actor has bounced back with a part in another mega movie.

Variety reports that Klattenhoff has boarded Guillermo Del Toro‘s futuristic monster movie “Pacific Rim.” The actor joins Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Rob Kazinsky, Max Martini and Clifton Collins Jr. in the Travis Beacham-scripted tale set in 2025, which will see the cast members form the human resistance against a series of devastating monster attacks that threaten to destroy Earth. As is the case with this movie, details are being kept closely guarded, but Klattenhoff will apparently appear in the film’s opening sequence (and presumably get killed or something).

‘Rim’ is gearing up to shoot later this year and it will be Warner Bros. big summer two years from now when it lands on July 12, 2013.
