If the upcoming female-centric comedy. “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” isn’t on your radar at all, don’t worry, you’re not alone out there. The picture is currently battling “Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star,” for the coveted 2011: Audiences Have Zero Awareness About This Film Award, so you shouldn’t feel bad if you’ve barely heard of it.
Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Christina Hendricks, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Munn, Kelsey Grammer, Greg Kinnear, Busy Philipps and Seth Meyers, while the “Sex And The City” devotees may be highly anticipating it right now, it doesn’t feel like the Weinstein Company had aggressively marketed the film (or they’re just not aggressively marketing the film at me). Written by hot screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (“We Bought A Zoo” “The Devil Wears Prada,” a “Cinderalla” film set up at Disney), “I Don’t Know How She Does It” is a comedy centered on the life of Kate Reddy (Parker), a finance executive who is the breadwinner for her husband and two kids. If there’s a huge audience for this film that we don’t know about, hell, we’re happy to be proven wrong, but our gut tells us it’s going to be crickets at the box-office.
Perhaps of more interest to some is its soundtrack. Featuring classical soul and R&B singers like Betty Everett, Nat King Cole and Bill Withers, Lakeshore Records is releasing a 13-track soundtrack that also features Sarah Jessica Parker singing “A Bushel and a Peck,” a song introduced to audiences in the Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls,” and perhaps best known as a song sung by Doris Day. As of right now the release date is digtially only on September 13, and a physical release is pending. Full tracklist and artwork below.
