Mary-Louise Parker Takes Role Jodie Foster Was Looking At In ‘R.I.P.D.’

While we think the world of Jodie Foster, she always seemed to be a weird potential castmate of “R.I.P.D.” but with Variety now reporting that Mary-Louise Parker will take the role instead, things make a lot more sense.

“R.I.P.D.” stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Stephanie Szostak and is based on the graphic novel by Peter M. Lenkov which was adapted by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi who both paired on “Clash of the Titans” and “Æon Flux” (red alert?). The film follows a pair of deceased detectives, one a recently murdered cop (Bridges), the other a gunslinger from the Old West (Reynolds), with the former trying to find his killer. Parker will play Procter, who overseas the titular department and explains to Reynolds what the deal is after his character dies.

Parker is no stranger to big screen comic adaptations, most recently showing her mettle in “Red” which, not so coincidentally, was also directed by Robert Schwentke who is on board here. With all the major cast slated, filming should be getting under way soon, with a June 28, 2013 release date pegged.
