So, both Venice and TIFF have unveiled their slates and…Cameron Crowe‘s “We Bought a Zoo” is nowhere to be seen. Granted, the film was only shot earlier this year and the ever busy Crowe — who already released the Elton John doc “The Union” and is finalizing “Pearl Jam Twenty” for Venice — is likely still getting the the film finished, so pics will have to do for now (until we get a trailer).
EW has the latest look at the movie (with a high-res version of the image coming from The Uncool), giving us a new peek at Matt Damon, his awful haircut and Scarlett Johansson. As you know, the film is based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee, with a script from “The Devil Wears Prada” writer Aline Brosh McKenna. The story follows Ben (Matt Damon), a single father who attempts to fulfill his late wife’s wish of moving their family to the titular animal sanctuary. Scarlett Johansson plays Kelly, who helps Ben mourn the loss of his wife with Thomas Haden Church, Elle Fanning, Angus MacFadyen, John Michael Higgins, J.B. Smoove and Patrick Fugit rounding out the cast and Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi providing the score.
It certainly seems — at least on the face of it — the lightest Crowe offering to date, but we’ll see how it all pans out when the film opens on on December 23rd. Bigger pic below.
