Yeah, we know, in terms of pairing two movies together for one story you can’t get much more polar opposite than these two films, but they both share long titles so we’ll use that as the connecting link. Or whatever.
First up, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson‘s “The Adventures Of Tintin” has a new poster and while many have gushed over it, if it had real people and objects on there instead of drawings, it would be declared a Photoshop disaster. Indeed, the poster is crammed with floating heads, a massive fiery boat, an airplane, and Tintin and Snowy on a motorcycle presumably driving out of the ocean. Or something. It’s very busy to say the least. ‘Tintin’ recently hit Comic-Con and if there was any doubt what the power of geeks at San Diego can do, all those grousing about the trailers quickly changed their tune when they saw footage in person at the confab, declaring it to be some of the finest mo-cap work ever. The hype and buzz aside, this still looks like a big load of fun, an Indiana Jones-esque adventure the likes of which we haven’t seen (properly done) in a long time. Jamie Bell, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Andy Serkis, Mackenzie Crook, Tony Curran, Daniel Mays, Sebastian Roche and Gad Elmaleh star in the film that hits Europe on October 26th, before getting a U.S. release on December 23rd.
Changing gears completely, here is a relatively new one-sheet for Lynne Ramsay‘s “We Need To Talk About Kevin.” This writer actually saw this poster at Cannes in a few print versions of trade magazines, but hadn’t seen a proper high-res version since, so thanks to the reader to gave us the heads up. If the poster doesn’t convey it clearly enough for you, this flick is grim look at a mother (Tilda Swinton in yet another powerful performance) who tries to deal with her grief after her son (Ezra Miller) goes on a high-school killing spree. While “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is taking the mantle of The Feel Bad Movie Of Christmas, we think this one might be a bit more devastating. “We Need To Talk About Kevin” opens on December 2nd.
