Owen Wilson Teases That Hansel Suffers ‘Vanilla Sky’ Type Injury In ‘Zoolander 2’

While Paramount has the script co-written by Ben Stiller and Justin Theroux, and are still trying to decide whether or not to go ahead with “Zoolander 2” (c’mon guys, is a decision on this one really that difficult? Hint: Do it), we’ll take whatever morsels of info we can and the latest comes from Hansel himself, Owen Wilson.

Speaking with MTV during press rounds for the forthcoming comedy “The Big Year,” the site asked Wilson how the sequel will find Hansel (“He’s so hot right now”) in the film that catches up with all the characters more than decade since the events in the first movie. “Hansel, he’s fallen on hard times,” he teased adding, “There’s been a disfiguring injury.” What kind of injury? Well, Wilson leaves to the imagination only saying, “Think ‘Vanilla Sky.”

We’re guessing something has happened to his face which would be a disaster for any model, and it’s another tidbit from the film about which specifics have been kept tightly guarded. The only other real information we know comes from Ben Stiller who back in January revealed the sequel is largely set in Europe.

”….It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way,” Stiller said.

Frankly, “Zoolander 2” sounds like a no brainer, and could certainly pad out the forthcoming studio slate, which aside from Sacha Baron Cohen‘s “The Dictator” and the Seth Rogen/Barbra Streisand vehicle “My Mother’s Curse” doesn’t have much in the way of comedies on it. But hey, we’re not studio executives so we can’t make those kind of decisions. But let’s hope this doesn’t go the way of “Anchorman 2“…
