Rob Corddry Joins Jonathan Levine’s Zombie Romance ‘Warm Bodies’

We’ll say this for Jonathan Levine — you can’t peg him down to any one genre. The director first made waves with the horror flick “All The Boys Love Mandy Lane” (which he says is still stuck in distributor hell) before breaking out with charming hip-hop coming-of-age film “The Wackness.” Next month he’s got the cancer dramedy “50/50” set to hit theaters, and after that? A zombie romance of course.

With Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer already lined up in the lead roles, Levine has added funnyman Rob Corddry to the cast of “Warm Bodies.” The project, based on an upcoming novel by Isaac Marion, is set in a world devastated by a zombie plague, and follows R (Hoult), one of the undead who is not quite like the others around him as he strikes up a friendship with Julie (Palmer) the girlfriend of one of his victims. Corddry will play M, another zombie who shares R’s unique traits. It’s an interesting move for Corddry, who has been earning massive praise for “Childrens Hospital” while popping up in films like “Cedar Rapids” and “Hot Tub Time Machine.”

The wheels on this one are turning quickly, with production to begin next month after which Corddry will take a quick nap before heading into season four of ‘Hospital’ which begins lensing in December. If that’s not enough Corddry for you, you can catch him in “Butter” when it premieres next month at TIFF. [Variety]
