‘Rum Diary’ Poster Raids The Liquor Cabinet; ‘One For The Money’ One Sheet Hopes You Buy Heigl

A couple of fresh new one sheets from two films that have been sitting around waiting to be released.

First up, Johnny Depp‘s “The Rum Diary” continues to evade the critics in the run up to its release, with no festival dates on the calendar in the lead up to its release next month. Could there be a reason for that? This writer wasn’t too impressed with the trailer but that seemed to be the minority opinion. At any rate, the new poster from Yahoo riffs on the boozy aspects of the story.

Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, Depp plays Paul Kemp (reprising his role somewhat as the Thompson stand-in from “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”), a freelance journalist who finds himself drawn to the Caribbean at a critical turning point in his life. Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Giovanni Ribisi and Richard Jenkins round out the cast of the movie which promises some sun-soaked hijinks. “The Rum Diary” opens on October 28th.

Meanwhile, originally set to open this summer, Katherine Heigl‘s latest abomination will now arrive early in 2012, a virtual dumping ground for cinematic also-rans. “One For the Money” is a harrowing journey into the current economic crisis. Based on the book by Janet Evanovich, the film centers on a newly-divorced, recently laid-off 30-year-old (Heigl) in New Jersey who becomes a bounty hunter for a bails bondsman. The twist? She has to track down her former lover!! Truly an inspiring tale of the entrepreneurial spirit. We won’t spend too much time on this poster except to say that it’s the most Katherine Heigl-iest poster of her career. We’re also glad that in her new job, she found time to make sure her boots and jacket matched. The movie will hit theaters on January 27, 2012.
