A couple bits of casting for you, one for a smaller comedy the other for a big budget zombie movie.
First up, it looks like “The Killing” star Kristin Lehman is ready to follow her co-stars Joel Kinnaman (“The Darkest Hour,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” “Safe House,” “Lola Versus“) and Mireille Enos (“World War Z,” “Gangster Squad“) and use some heat from the hit AMC show to book a couple of movie gigs. She’s coming aboard “Golf Pro” which is not, as the title suggests, a golf comedy. The movie was announced earlier this year without a title, but it stars Colin Firth and Emily Blunt with the former playing a man who hates his job and is hated by his ex-wife (Lehman) and son. Feeling he missed his one shot at living the dream, he fakes his death and buys a new identity. Along the way he meets a woman (Blunt) who is also trying to leave her past behind, and they decide to break into empty homes and pose as the absent owners. We presume the title refers to a lie they’ve cooked up. Production starts this month with commercial and music video director Dante Ariola making his feature debut.
Meanwhile, though it’s been in front of cameras for a while now, “World War Z” has added solid character actor and “Hey, it’s that guy” veteran David Morse to the cast. Marc Forster is directing the Black List-approved script by J. Michael Straczynski (with rewrites by Matthew Michael Carnahan) that centers on a UN bureaucrat named Gerry Lane, who in the aftermath of the zombie war is asked to compile a complete report on the incident. Morse will play a prisoner in an abandoned jail. Brad Pitt leads the cast with Bryan Cranston, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, Elyes Gabel and the aforementioned Mirielle Enos on board. The movie will infect theaters on December 21, 2012. [Variety/Deadline]
