Forget all those awards season prestige movies and international arthouse hits. With TIFF, Venice and Telluride over, it’s now back to blockbuster schlock, so let’s get on with the unnecessary “The Thing” remake shall we?
IGN unveiled a new red band trailer for the movie if you want every jump scare and gross-out moment spoiled, just watch this spot and the previous trailer and you pretty much have the whole movie. Directed by newcomer Matthis van Heijningen Jr. and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Eric Christian Olsen, the film will tell the story of the Norwegian team and the origins of the titular creature from the 1982 movie. But don’t expect any of the magic of John Carpenter‘s original– this plays out with loud noises seemingly providing most of the scares. At least the continual delays for the movie got that CGI looking good. Right?
Anyway, “The Thing” will become you or whatever on October 14th. And even scarier, this trailer will be shown on the Halloween Horror Nights Terror Tram at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. Marketing truly is frightening.
