Watch: Breaking Into Nic Cage’s House Is A Pain In The Kidman In ‘Trespass’ Trailer

So, how far has Joel Schumacher fallen? The studio behind “Trespass” is forced to reference “Phone Booth” and “Falling Down” — films made ten and more years ago — to try and stir up excitement for the director’s latest, the best straight-to-DVD movie to ever to play TIFF (yes, its playing TIFF).

Starring Nicole Kidman (how she got roped into this we’ll never know) and Nicolas Cage, with a supporting cast that includes Ben Mendelsohn (”Animal Kingdom” breakout star), Cam Gigandet, Liana Liberato, Jordana Spiro, Dash Mihok, Emily Meade and Nico Tortorella the film is about some dudes who stage a home invasion in Cage’s massive mansion, but get this: Cage isn’t gonna cooperate! And then, in another twist, his wife may have had extramarital relations with one of the dudes breaking into the house! Can we get Dr. Phil in here to sort this out? Oof, well, at least we know the budget was probably low because it seems to take place mostly in the big house with some flashback scenes tossed in. And in a last ditch effort to grab your attention the last portion of the trailer is a dizzying array of…stuff…to try and distract from the second-rate feel of the whole thing: syringes! fire! someone getting their face slammed in a mirror! gasoline! flying chairs! NOOOOOOO!

“Trespass” arrives in theaters and on VOD on October 14th. Check out the trailer below.
