Watch: Darkly Comic First Footage From Todd Solondz’s ‘Dark Horse’

While Christopher Walken, Mia Farrow and Selma Blair, the starry trio of Todd Solondz‘s latest effort “Dark Horse,” will likely be the focus of photogs in Toronto next month, the film‘s lead is the much more low key name of Jordan Gelber, a relatively-unknown character actor who has appeared on shows like “Boardwalk Empire,” “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Well, the rollout of TIFF promo material continues as the first footage of “Dark Horse” has hit and it shows that Gelber has no problem delivering the wry, dark and hilarious dialogue Solondz is known for.

Gelber plays a thirtysomething man still living with his parents (Walken and Farrow), who seeks out a relationship with a woman in a similar state of arrested development (Blair) in an attempt to shed his label as the dark horse of the family. Justin Bartha and Zachary Booth will play, respectively, the protagonist’s brother and cousin, while Aasif Mandvi will be Blair’s ex-boyfriend, and Donna Murphy will be Walken’s secretary.

It’s another one fest attendees will need to add to their already crowded schedule — and a title we’re certainly looking forward to — and while his output of late might be uneven, Solondz’s work is always uniquely his and compelling to watch. Check out the clip below.
