Well, “Killer Elite” opens tomorrow so we suppose this is one last ditch effort to get dudes interested in seeing Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro wasting some bodies rather than watching Jonah Hill work some Excel spreadsheets in “Moneyball” (we kid, the movie is great, go see it folks).
Anyway, JoBlo has dropped a red band trailer for the movie and it delivers what it should. F-bombs, blood, shit blowing up and two and a half boobs. And actually, we have to say, allowed to swear, flex its muscle and show a little skin, it’s the most entertaining look at the movie yet and we wonder why no one bothered to go this route weeks ago. The movie tells the tale of a skilled special-ops agent (Statham, obviously) who comes out of self-imposed exile to put together a team to rescue his former mentor, played by Robert De Niro, with Clive Owen hamming it up as the villain. But despite the intriguing premise, our review says all you get is “a bunch of lousy ‘locations,’ wooden acting, an absurd plot, and uniformly terrible facial hair.”
Anyway, it opens tomorrow. If “Moneyball” is sold out and you’ve already seen “The Lion King” we suppose you could do worse.
