Watch: New Footage From ‘The Adventures Of Tintin’ In German TV Spot

‘J. Edgar’ Gets A Pretty Solid TV Spot As Well

It’s coming up sooner than we thought, but in just a matter of weeks, European audiences will be the first to experience the big screen outing between Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson with “The Adventures Of Tintin” and a new German TV spot has a sneak peek of at a handful of new, exciting looking set pieces.

While many are still trying to nitpick the look of the mo-cap work, to this writer’s eyes, Spielberg, Jackson and WETA have more than solved the cold looking, dead eye work of Robert Zemeckis and are delivering a full throttle adventure that captures the spirit of Hergé‘s beloved comic character. Of course, you already know the cast is filled right up with Jamie Bell, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Andy Serkis, Mackenzie Crook, Tony Curran, Daniel Mays, Sebastian Roche and Gad Elmaleh and story will find Tintin and his pal Snowy looking for Captain Haddock’s ancestor’s sunk ship which will take them on adventure they likely didn’t bargain for. This new spot features lots of new bits and bobs and if that last little bit with the motorcycle breaking to pieces doesn’t excite you, well, we don’t know what to say. This looks like exactly the kind of multiplex entertainment Spielberg and Jackson excel at, and we can’t wait. The film opens overseas on October 26th and lands in the U.S. on December 23rd.

Meanwhile, on the heels of the first trailer launching last week, a new TV spot has landed for Clint Eastwood‘s “J. Edgar.” The film finds Leonardo DiCaprio taking on the lead with a weird accent and old man makeup in the tale that will span five decades. It certainly looks impressively and handsomely put together but the desaturated color treatment is slightly offputting. The film features a script from Dustin Lance Black and co-stars a great supporting cast including an impressive looking Armie Hammer as Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s assistant/lover; Josh Lucas as famed aviator Charles Lindbergh; Ed Westwick as Agent Smith, an operative gifted with writing skills; Damon Herriman as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby; Judi Dench as Hoover’s mother; Naomi Watts as Helen Gandy, a Justice Department file clerk who ended up being Hoover’s personal secretary; Ken Howard as lawyer and jurist Harlan F. Stone; Jeffrey Donovan as Robert F. Kennedy; and Stephen Root as Arthur Koehler, a wood specialist at Forest Product Laboratories who uses his expertise to help Hoover investigate the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby by tracing the origins of the ladder used by the perpetrator.

“J. Edgar” opens on November 9th.
