Watch: Senior Year Is A Beautiful Drag In Trailer For ‘Tanner Hall’ With Rooney Mara & Brie Larson

Oh, senior year. So much heartbreak, so much drama, and if you’re in an all girls boarding school, we can only imagine those sensations are heightened. Certainly that’s the case for the students at “Tanner Hall.” Vulture unveiled the trailer and as we mentioned just a couple of days ago, the film is notable for featuring on-the-rise and soon-to-breakout stars Rooney Mara and Brie Larson and is finally hitting screens after premiering at TIFF two years ago.

Falling somewhere between “Cracks” and “An Education” tonally, the film, directed by Francesca Gregorini and Tatiana von Furstenberg (yes, the daughter of Diane von Furstenberg who did some costume design for the film), tells the tale of four girls — Fernanda, Victoria, Kate and Lucasta — in their final year at a boarding school in New England. Centered around Fernanda (Mara), we follow her as she deals with the duplicitous Victoria (Georgia King) and enters a relationship with a married, older man Gio (Tom Everett Scott). Homosexuality, rebelliousness and all the usual touchstones rear their head in this spot as well, and while the film looks beautifully shot, we hope there are some new avenues explored in what is a very familiar genre.

“Tanner Hall” hits theaters in limited release on September 9th. Check out the trailer below.
