So is the timing on this coincidence or bad luck? Depends on which side of the fence you’re on, but the question is, after watching this new trailer for “Tower Heist,” do you think it’s worth forking over $59.99 to watch it at home a few weeks after it hits theaters? Yeah, probably not.
To bring you back up to speed, this Brett Ratner directed film is led by Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, with Alan Alda, Téa Leoni, Gabourey Sidibe, Michael Pena, Matthew Broderick, Casey Affleck and Judd Hirsch in supporting roles in the story about an overworked manager of a luxury building (Stiller) who, along with other staff, loses his pension to a Bernie Madoff-like Wall Street crook (Alda). It so happens that the fraudster is being held under house arrest in the luxury penthouse apartment upstairs, and the manager and four cohorts figure a heist will make them whole. In case it wasn’t apparent already, this is a Ratner film, which means it plays really, really lowest common denominator/broad. So that’s why you have jokes about Webster (really?) and a cockroach in a Ziploc bag. Ha ha.
Can’t say we’re too excited for this other than to see Murphy actually be funny for the first time in years. Even if only a third of the jokes he makes land, it’ll still be more laughs than he’s delivered in the past few movies combined. Watch below or in HD at Apple.
