Aaron Eckhart, AnnaSophia Robb & Sean Bean Join Former Guillermo Del Toro Peter Pan Project

On paper, the idea of another visit to a “re-imagined” world of Peter Pan kind of bores us to death, but this casting is actually pretty amazing.

ScreenDaily reports that Aaron Eckhart, AnnaSophia Robb and Sean Bean have joined the project formerly known as “Pan.” First acquired by New Line way back in 2006 as a project for Guillermo del Toro, “Pan” is an intriguing take on J.M. Barrie’s tale that spins “Captain Hook as a haunted former police detective in pursuit of a childlike kidnapper.” We’re guessing this one won’t be the for the kiddies. So who will be doing what? How about Eckhart as Captain Hook, Bean as Smee — the chief detective and Hook’s only ally on the police force — and Robb as Wendy, “the lone survivor who leaves an asylum to help in the hunt.”

Last fall, Ben Hibon—who is best known for the animated sequence in “Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1”—took over the director’s chair, and the film is gearing up for a production start in October. The film has a script from Benjamin Magid, a writer still making his way up the ranks but who has a number of projects in development including an adaptation of “Hack/Slash.”

The film will be eyed by buyers at Cannes and you know what? This actually sounds kind of cool.
