Armie Hammer Is Going To Have Problems At ‘2:22’ From ‘Moon’ Writer Nathan Parker

While Armie Hammer has ridden his “The Social Network” buzz into roles in Clint Eastwood‘s “J. Edgar” and Tarsem‘s Snow White film it looks like his shot at starring opposite Johnny Depp in “The Lone Ranger” has been tabled for now.

Variety reports that Hammer has filled out the rest of his 2011 calendar with “2:22.” The slightly absurd sounding plot will find Hammer playing “an air traffic controller whose life unravels after he’s nearly responsible for a collision between passenger planes caused by a mysterious blinding flash at 2:22 p.m. The event leads him to meet a woman whose life seems to have been intertwined with his long ago.” That being said, the film is written by Todd Stein and Nathan Parker, the latter responsible for “Moon” but also for the likely straight-to-DVD Jason Statham actioner “Blitz” — so this could really go either way.

The film will roll this fall — when “The Lone Ranger” was tentatively gearing up to shoot — in Sydney with Paul Currie directing. We’re not quite sold on the concept which sounds like scores of other low-rent thriller scripts, but we hope there’s more than meets the eye.
