Cameron Diaz Is Going To Tell You ‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting’

While Cameron Diaz is shaking up her image this year with the raunchy R-rated “Bad Teacher,” and with the upcoming caper flick “Gambit,” she’s being careful not to stray too far from her bread-and-butter: safe, milquetoast studio fare.

THR reports that the actress will topline the adaptation of “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.” “Nanny McPhee” and “Everybody’s Fine” helmer Kirk Jones will be behind the camera for the film and while no specific plot details yet, the the movie is said to be a multi-thread narrative not unlike “Love Actually” that will track five different couples on the path to having a baby. Diaz will play the host of weight-loss fitness show who is exactly 42 years old. And while that seems weirdly specific, it’s probably because she will get pregnant and then be surprised because post-40 is biological cut off date for many women. What ever will she do?

Our only hope that this might be somewhat watchable is that the script is set to be written by “Whip It!” scribe Shauna Cross along with (less promisingly) Heather Hach (“Legally Blonde: The Musical,” “Freaky Friday“).

Anyway, what we’re expecting with this one ain’t much.
