First Look At Bruce Willis In Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper’

Rian Johnson, director of “The Brothers Bloom” and “Brick,” has amassed quite a cast for his next sci-fi outing “Looper.”

The film revolves around time travel, and when Joe, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in his second go-around with Johnson, runs into his future self, played by Bruce Willis, things get ugly.

The film also stars Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, Garrett Dillahunt, Paul Dano and Jeff Daniels, and though we were aware the film had started shooting in Louisiana recently (and already has wrapped, including time spent shooting in China), we didn’t expect to get a first image so quickly. Empire got to visit the set and came back with a bad-ass first look at Willis holding a flame-throwing machine gun.

Though the picture doesn’t provide us with much information about how the film will look, it definitely proves that Johnson is taking the action up a notch from his previous works and perhaps in more of a popcorn escapist manner.. It’s also impressive how Johnson keeps exploring all types of genres — first a current-day noir with “Brick,” then a light-hearted crime caper film with “Brothers Bloom” and now this hardcore science fiction. It keeps us excited for “Looper,” as well as what’s to come next.

Excited for “Looper?” Never seen Johnson’s films? Check out the image and let us know what you think.
