First Look: Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen & Sarah Silverman In Sarah Polley’s ‘Take This Waltz’

More photos from the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival of course. This one is the sophomore directorial effort by Canadian actor/director Sarah Polley (the very underrated “Away From Her“) and is a relationship drama that stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen and lesser-known Canadian actor Luke Kirby.

Written by Polley, the film also co-stars Sarah Silverman and the writer/director has a role as well. According to the TIFF site, it’s 116 minutes long and the music is by Jonathan Goldsmith (“Casino Jack,” “Away From Her”).

Here’s what the TIFF press release says by way of synopsis: Swelteringly hot, bright and colourful like a bowl of fruit, “Take this Waltz” leads us laughing through the familiar, but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves. Starring Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen and Luke Kirby.

The TIFF website calls it a “bittersweet story about a married woman struggling to choose between her husband and a man she’s just met.” We read the excellent script last year and that’s definitely more accurate. It is full of laughter, love, drama and tears. No word on a distributor yet, but one will surely jump aboard during the festivals. Expect the Leonard Cohen song referenced in the title to appear somewhere in the film as well as a colorful indie-rock soundtrack.
