To say that anticipation for Peter Jackson‘s two-part “The Hobbit” is running high would be an understatement, but luckily for fans of the franchise, the director has gone into the next two films allowing a pretty big window into the world he’s conjuring up down in New Zealand. With frequent Facebook updates and communication with fans, it’s perhaps not too surprising that the first official look at the film has arrived pretty much right in the middle of production.
EW has debuted three brand new stills from the film, giving us our first look at Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and you know what? He looks perfect in the part. We also get a new look at Ian McKellen as Gandalf, and a glimpse of Jackson and Freeman on set. It’s a nice little teaser of what will certainly be two huge, epic films and it should definitely sate fan appetites — for now.
Boasting a huge cast (that we’re not going to run down here) of old and new faces, “The Hobbit” continues to roll in front of cameras with “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” hitting theaters on December 14, 2012.
