Get Your Oscars Ready: ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ Will Hit Theaters On November 18th

All star cast? Check. Promising director? Check. Great story? Check. Frankly, it would take one helluva cock up to mess this one up, but “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” is one of our most anticipated films of the fall and with good reason.

Starring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong, Svetlana Khodchenko, Toby Jones, John Hurt, Stephen Graham and Kathy Burke and directed by Tomas Alfredson (“Let The Right One In“), the film is an adaptation of John Le Carre‘s classic spy thriller that follows a British Intelligence operative whose task is to delve into the world of Cold War espionage and root out a Soviet mole in the Circus, the highest echelon in the British Intelligence Services. That alone has us sold and now with a fresh Oscar baiting release date, our excitement has gone up one more notch.

Focus Features has staked out a November 18th release date for the film. It will square off against “Breaking Dawn — Part 1” and “Happy Feet 2,” leaving plenty of room for people who aren’t tweenagers or have to drag their kids to a movie with a great option at the multiplex.

“Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy” has been invited to open the Venice Film Festival and seems likely to do the fall festival jaunt. We can’t wait. [BoxOfficeMojo]
