‘Gossip Girl’ Katie Cassidy Replaces Sienna Miller In ‘Freaky Deaky’; William H. Macy Is Out

More movement on “Freaky Deaky,” the Elmore Leonard adaptation that seems to have more in and outs than a porn set (eww). So let’s see where we’re at.

Earlier this month it was reported that Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Craig Robinson had joined William H. Macy in the film, but there was once curious omission. Just a few days prior, Sienna Miller was confirmed to be in the cast but was missing from the latest update in the trades. We reached out to her reps who revealed that while she was definitely attached, scheduling had become an issue and she unfortunately had to drop out. Well, the production continues to move forward with more actress coming on board and another person leaving.

Variety reports that “Gossip Girl” star Katie Cassidy will fill the role left vacant by Miller, but that Macy — the first person to be attached the project — has dropped out.

The plot centers on an ex-couple (Fraser and Cassidy) with radical politics who reunite to trick Woody Ricks (the role previously slotted for Macy), alcoholic hard-partying movie mogul out of his money for a score worth millions, while Chris Mankowski, a cop with bomb squad experience (Dillon), tries to take them down. Robinson will play former Black Panther Donnell Lewis, who is Woody’s assistant. No word yet on why Macy bailed, though it could be due to his commitments to his new hit Showtime series “Shameless” or perhaps he didn’t want to play another drunken character as he does on that show.

Charlie Matthau is still directing and they’ll have to hurry to find someone to replace Macy because filming starts next week.
