Ready to get scared? If you’re looking for some more cheap thrills in your life, today is the day as a couple of horror auteurs (sort of) have lined up some new projects.
“Saw” franchise creator and the man behind this year’s micro-budgeted hit “Insidious,” director James Wan has lined up his next, a haunted house movie titled [cue ominous music] “The Conjuring” reports Variety. Written by Carey and Chad Hayes the film will be inspired by the real life tale of the Perron family who in the 1970s spent a decade dealing with supernatural spirits in their Harrisville, Rhode Island farmhouse. It is apparently one of the most famous “true life” haunting stories of all time. One the children Andrea Perron has written a memoir “House Of Darkness, House Of Light” about her experiences and you can check out the video below where the addresses the reason why the family stayed so long in the home. Anyway, the project is set up over at New Line but no production start date has been made yet.
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Takashi Shimizu best known for directing the Japanese and English language originals and remakes of “The Grudge” and “The Grudge 2” has a treatment set up over at CBS Films that he will direct. Titled “Flight 75,” the boring premise is a thriller “set on a transpacific airliner where the passengers encounter what appears to be a supernatural force.” Didn’t we see this on “The Twilight Zone” already? Anyway, a writer will be found to turn the idea into a script that will be shot this fall, and become a movie we have no interest in seeing.
