Believe it “Hunger Games” fans, the movie is about eight months away and the marketing campaign is already heating up. We’ve already gotten our first peek at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. Now a brand new “motion poster” has hit the web to stoke the fires even more (sorry, couldn’t resist).
The new digital one sheet features the mockingjay pin, which Katniss wears to protest the oppressive Panem government, in flames with quickly irritating music over top. Directed by Gary Ross, the film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Suzanne Collins about teens drawn by lottery into gladiatorial battles in a dystopian future and the helmer has got a pretty stacked ensemble for the film. Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley, Woody Harrelson, Toby Jones, Donald Sutherland and a whole bunch of unknowns co-star in the film which Lionsgate hopes will spawn in to a “Twilight”-esque franchise (the books are written and ready to be made). Certainly a fiercely loyal fanbase is already in place, but its up to everyone involved to make a movie that will be worthy of their very high expectations.
“Hunger Games” hits theaters next spring on March 23, 2012. Check out the poster below. [Yahoo]
