Considering the production on Peter Jackson‘s “The Hobbit” will be stretching all the way through to early 2012, there will still be more bits and pieces of casting new coming as various actors and actresses fly in and out of New Zealand to film their parts.
Long rumored and now confirmed, Hugo Weaving is set to reprise his role as Elrond in the upcoming film. In the story, Elrond gives shelter to Bilbo Baggins and his entourage during their journey and it serves as the foundation of their friendship. Ian McKellen revealed this bit of news on his blog, adding that the film is on a hiatus of sorts as Martin Freeman leaves the production for a little bit to knock out three more “Sherlock” episodes for Brit TV. So in the meantime, the non-hobbit scenes will lens, focusing mostly on the dwarves and elves in the picture.
So that’s your latest bit of news from Middle Earth for now. “The Hobbit: Part 1” hits theaters on December 19, 2012.
