Kristen Stewart Out, But Her Brother Cameron Is In For Their Mom’s Directorial Debut ‘K-11’

Goran Visnjic, D.B. Sweeney & Portia Doubleday Also Star

Update: We’ve been informed that scheduling conflicts with “Snow White And The Huntsman” prevented Kristen Stewart from participating in the film.

This must have been an awkward dinner conversation. In development for more than two years, Jules Stewart — yes, Bella’s real life Mom — had been prepping her directorial debut “K-11” as a starring vehicle for her daughter. But in that time, little K-Stew has grown up into a worldwide megastar thanks to the “Twilight” franchise and she doesn’t need her Mom’s little indie film anymore, thank you very much. However, her big bro Cameron Stewart (making his acting debut) will carry the family torch into the family, but that’s not all.

Goran Visnjic, Kate del Castillo, D.B. Sweeney, Portia Doubleday, Jason Mewes and Tommy “Tiny” Lister all co-star in a film that despite its hi-wattage familial switcheroo is still a pretty compelling drama with a pretty risque and out there premise. “K-11” references a section of Los Angeles County Jail reserved for homosexuals, with the story centering on two transgendered characters: tattoeed methead Mousey and Butterfly—both residents of the male prison. Visnjic will play a record producer who wakes in K-11 after a three day binge and finds out its ruled by a “viper transsexual” (whatever that means) who we assume is Mousey.

K-stew or no K-stew, the wheels on this one are already moving with filming having started on July 18th. No need to worry about Kristen — she’s wrapped up the “Twilight” franchise, and is kicking off filming this fall on another mega-tentpole in “Snow White And The Huntsman” and we can’t help but wonder if studio suits were worried about her taking on the part of tough transgender jailbird while also lining up Snow White. Hmm… [Variety]
