Are you gonna go my way? The answer is yes.
Lionsgate has announced that rocker, actor and wearer of many scarves, Lenny Kravitz has joined the cast of “The Hunger Games” in the role of Cinna. The Gary Ross-directed film which has built up a lot of hype and advance photos without a single frame being shot yet, is an adaptation of the best selling novel by Suzanne Collins about teens drawn by lottery into gladiatorial battles in a dystopian future. Bummer, dude. Kravitz, however, will make them look fabulous as the stylist Cinna. His work for Katniss shapes who she is in the public eye and may actually save her life. Never has eye glitter been more important.
Kravitz joins a huge cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson and whole bunch of other, mostly unknown kids in various roles. If you search the internet, you can even find early set photos of faraway industrial buildings, but you’ll have to find that yourself because we’re not posting that here.
“The Hunger Games” arrives in theaters ten months from today on March 23, 2012. Here’s the official synopsis:
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
Hey, at least we know the dude can act, witness as he keeps it real.
