Lush New Pictures Of Rachel Weisz & Tom Hiddleston In ‘The Deep Blue Sea’

Will this be the year of Rachel Weisz? She’s certainly never been busier. While she’ll be busy on the sets of “Oz The Great And Powerful” and “The Bourne Legacy,” she’ll also be hitting Toronto hard in September stumping for two films: Fernando Meirelles‘ “360” and Terrence Davies‘ “The Deep Blue Sea.” We already showed you a first pic of the former, now here comes a few more from the latter.

The film is an adaptation of Terence Rattigan‘s celebrated play about Hester Collyer (Weisz), the suicidal wife of a High Court Judge who’s caught in a self-destructive affair with an R.A.F. pilot (played by rising thesp Tom Hiddleston). Simon Russell Beale plays Hester’s cuckolded husband. If anything, the pics reveal a lusciously shot picture that should put cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister on the map. Here’s the official synopsis:

Master chronicler of post-War England Terence Davies directs Rachel Weisz as a woman whose overpowering, obsessive love alienates the men around her and destroys her well-being. Based on Terence Ratigan’s play, made famous by countless actresses.

Surprisingly, there’s no word on a U.S. distributor but that should change very, very quickly if word on the festival circuit is strong. [TIFF]
