Matthew Fox & Ed Harris Gear Up For ‘World War Z’

With filming set to begin very soon in London and Scotland (where Glasgow will double as Philadelphia for some reason), “World War Z” is beginning to get the final pieces of casting into place, once again mixing up television stars with movie actors.

Deadline reports that Matthew Fox, who spent six seasons squinting and grimacing on “Lost,” and Ed Harris, who could make instructions on how to make canned soup utterly compelling, are in talks to join the film. Set to be directed by Marc Forster, the Black List-approved story by J. Michael Straczynski (with rewrites by Matthew Michael Carnahan) is set in the aftermath of an undead apocalypse which has wiped out much of the world’s population, and sees Brad Pitt playing a U.N. researcher investigating the outbreak. The duo join “Rubicon” star James Badge Dale as Captain Spake, a U.S. soldier who attempted to warn his superiors of the coming threat to no avail, and “The Killing” star Mirielle Enos as Pitt’s wife. French actor Julia Levy-Boeken has also come aboard the film but no word on the roles the trio will slot.

It’s certainly a promising cast (though we’d take Anthony Mackie — who was courted — over Matthew Fox any day of the week) but we’re still unsure if Forster is the guy to deliver the goods. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
