New Looks At Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans & More In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Update #2: Entertainment Weekly has dropped all their stills online. Check below for even more.

Given the plethora of pretty fuzzy and decidedly lame set photos of Andrew Garfield in “The Amazing Spider-Man” and that the first official look was seven months ago, we’ll take what we can get for now and Entertainment Weekly has served up a brand new taste from the film.

This isn’t the first time Garfield will be on a magazine cover in the next year or so, and it certainly won’t be the last. Decked out in the new sleeker and somewhat sexier costume, the actor and his bouffant hair look well at home in the Spidey slinging, crime-fighting outfit. We’d really like to see shots of him in action but Comic-Con is just a few weeks away and we suppose that’s where the truly sizzling stuff will be revealed.

But the big question is: how will this differ from Sam Raimi‘s trilogy? Director Marc Webb tells the magazine that, “Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.” Moreover, ‘Amazing’ is described as being “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” than its predecessors. We’re not sure what “more contemporary” means — maybe Peter Parker has a Google+ profile or struggles with Malick-ian existential ennui? — but it certainly seems it will be a bit more rough and tumble than Tobey Maguire‘s squeaky voiced incarnation.

Garfield is joined in the film by Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans and Irrfan Khan as the villains (EW confirms the former is playing Doc Connors), and Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Annie Parisse, Chris Zylka and C. Thomas Howell also among the cast. ”The Amazing Spider-Man” hits theaters on July 3, 2012 in glorious 3D. Update: Movieline has scanned a few new images from the EW issue. Check ’em out.
