A couple of not-too-exciting posters have cropped up, so let’s get right to it.
The first trailer for “Real Steel” dropped a couple of weeks ago and it looked much better than we anticipated. Starring Hugh Jackman, the film is a boxing drama set in the near future where 2,000-pound robots do battle in the ring while controlled by human handlers. But more specifically, the film is about a father-son (Dakota Goyo playing the kid) team training an unusual robot to win a boxing championship after Jackman’s fall from glory as an actual human boxer. So yeah, pretty cool and we were pleasantly surprised by the decent special effects in the spot. So why DreamWorks has gone with what looks like rejected science-fiction paperback cover art for the poster is beyond us. Even the logo looks like it was created in about three seconds by an intern. Full poster below and let’s hope the marketing materials improve from here because this bordering on Cannon video-style nonsense. [ComingSoon]
Meanwhile, Sony is going with the very simple put-the-big-heads-of-two-stars-on-the-poster approach for the one sheet of the upcoming “Friends With Benefits.” The film centers on Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) who are good friends and fuckbuddies, but things become complicated when they decide to become romantically involved. Yeah, we know you’ve seen this movie already when it was called “No Strings Attached” but the film is director Will Gluck’s follow up to the breezy and hilarious “Easy A” so we’re optimistic about this one. Check out the giant heads below. [I Watch Stuff]
