Richard Jenkins Joins Elizabeth Olsen In Josh Radnor’s ‘Liberal Arts’

How I Met Your Mother” star Josh Radnor made his feature directing debut last year with “Happythankyoumoreplease.” It wasn’t very good. But for his sophomore feature, Radnor has already stepped up us his game. Earlier this year, and fresh out of the Sundance Film Festival, where she earned incredible buzz for her performance in “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” Radnor landed Elizabeth Olsen as the star for “Liberal Arts,” and now he’s lined up another accomplished thesp who made an appearance in his first film.

Variety reports that awesome and ever busy character actor Richard Jenkins will re-team for the story about Jesse, a 35-year-old man (Radnor) who can’t leave his college life behind as he comes to grips with the responsibilities of adulthood. Olsen will play Zibby, a 19 year-old college student who falls for Jesse over their mutual love of music and literature, but their difference in age starts to get in the way as Jesse moves farther away from a hedonistic lifestyle. Jenkins will play Jesse’s favorite professor who introduces him to Zibby’s family at his retirement party.

John Magaro, Michael Weston and “Twilight” star Elizabeth Reaser have also joined the cast as a depressed college friend; another friend and a potential love interest respectively. The film will go in front of cameras in June during the break from “How I Met Your Mother” and we’d presume a Sundance or SXSW premiere next year is in the works.
