Now that we got news about Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson and the Cannes Film Festival out of the way, here’s a “Hunger Games” update. Yawn.
Lionsgate has announced that Stanley Tucci has landed the role of Caesar Flickerman in the upcoming film which is nearly ten months away from its release date with still a cast needed to be filled out. Anyway, Caesar is an outrageous and relentlessly positive TV personality who interviews the tributes before they go into battle. So yeah, this seems like a breezy, easy role for Tucci. And speaking of tributes; two more people you’ve never heard of — Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurman — are the District 9 folks. Hooray.
Tucci joins Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley and a bunch of other people in the Gary Ross directed film which will hit on March 23, 2012.
