Plus ‘Final Destination 5′ Poster & ’11-11-11’ Trailer
Ready for updates on some scare movies coming up in the next little while? Well, ready or not, here we go.
Kicking things off, after a long wait after getting stuck in the MGM bankruptcy quagmire, “Cabin In The Woods,” the horror flick co-written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard—whose geek cred between them boasts “Lost,” “Alias,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Cloverfield”—and directed by Goddard, is now headed to theaters courtesy of Lionsgate. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams and Kristen Connolly, plot details are slim but it’s said to be a monster movie with a fresh take on the titular premise. Bloody Disgusting has the first official still which is bunch of people standing in a room — frightening! — but at least it seems to indicate the movie will be headed to theaters before year’s end.
Next up, “Fright Night” has been surpassing expectations this far with early peeks and trailers suggesting a smarter, edgier remake than average. But amidst the cast that includes Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Imogen Poots one person has been kept a bit more under wraps, David Tennant. He plays Peter Vincent in the film, a Criss Angel-like Las Vegas magician who assists our protagonist (Yelchin) in his battle against the villainous vampire (Farrell). Well, Shock Til You Drop have revealed a couple more looks at Tennant and it looksl like he could kick Criss Angel’s ass. And if you want more, you can head over here to check out some character posters too. “Fright Night” will screen at Comic-Con later this month before hitting theaters on August 19th.
As dumb as it looks, we have to give a grudging respect to “Shark Night 3D” if only because it aspires to be nothing more than hot young things getting hunted by killer sharks. So with that in mind, some new stills have dropped from the movie and they mostly use Sara Paxton’s top and bottom to market the movie. Great work guys. Starring a bunch of other people including that dude from “Avatar” who isn’t Sam Worthington, the movie opens on September 2nd.
Speaking of nubile young things getting killed, “Final Destination 5” is on the way where a bunch of teenagers will have to cheat death. Again. Here’s a skull exploding poster that also serves to remind you that this will be in glorious 3D. Hallelujah. The final final final final final destination will arrive on August 12th. No word yet on if it’s actually the final one.
Finally, auteur Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed a few of the “Saw” films and “Mother’s Day,” is readying his own conceptual horror movie “11-11-11” about how those numbers when found together will you die. Or something. A new trailer hit Bloody Disgusting and we just have to ask: didn’t we see this movie when it was called “The Number 23“? Or maybe we’d just rather watch that instead. Official synopsis and trailer below:
After the tragic death of his wife and child, famed American author Joseph Crone travels from the United States to Barcelona, Spain to reunite with his estranged brother Samuel and dying father, Richard. However, fate has a different plan for Joseph as his life becomes plagued with strange happenings, and the constant sightings of the number 11. Curiosity quickly turns to obsession, and Joseph soon realizes that this number holds a horrific meaning not only to himself but possibly to all of religion. Isolated in a foreign country with only the support of his companion, Sadie, Joseph soon realizes that 11/11/11 is more than just a date, it’s a WARNING!
