Vince Vaughn To Reteam With Ben Stiller In ‘Neighborhood Watch’

Our disappointment with Vince Vaughn has been well documented. For the past decade or so he’s been phoning it in with films like “The Break Up,” “Fred Claus,” “Couples Retreat” and this year’s “The Dilemma,” but it looks like he’s finally headed back into our good books. Earlier this year he lined up a part in Stephen Frears‘ “Lay The Favorite,” he’s got Jason Bateman joining him for “Insane Laws” and now he’s finally pairing up with an old friend he hasn’t worked with in seven years.

THR reveals that Vaughn will join old pal Ben Stiller in “Neighborhood Watch.” The premise follows a bunch of guys who form a neighborhood watch group as “a front for dads to get some male bonding time away from the family. Things go awry when the group accidentally uncovers a plot bent on destroying the world.” The project originally had a script by Jared Stern (”Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” “Arthur”) but Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have given it a rewrite approved by the filmmakers which has got the movie rolling.

There was a brief moment when it seemed you couldn’t separate these two guys as they both appeared in “Starsky & Hutch,” “Anchorman,” “Zoolander” and of course, “Dodgeball,” and they even did the sketch below with James Cameron which we totally forgot about. Either way, we’re looking forward to watching these two bounce off each other once again.

The Lonely Island member, “Saturday Night Live” writer and “Hot Rod” director Akiva Schaffer will sit in the director’s chair and we presume this will roll this summer before he has to get back to work on the show.
