Watch: Beware Bridges, Screws, Factories & More In New ‘Final Destination 5’ Trailer

Here’s an anecdote for you: We watched the first “Final Destination 5” trailer with an audience at a recent screening of “Horrible Bosses.” At first, audience members were audibly saying “Another one?” and half-snickering at the trailer, but as it continued, even as spectacularly stupid as it looked, the theater was hooked. And by time the trailer ended they were fully on its side, ready for more cheap elaborate scares that they just couldn’t look away from. As the filmmakers behind “Saw” learned over seven films, finding complicated ways to kill people will always sell lots and lots of tickets.

And so here we are with trailer number two in the which the fifth installment of the “Final Destination” franchise seems to have upped the budget slightly, or at least poured a lot of it into that bridge sequence which will open the film. Otherwise, a whole new bunch of ways to die are presented this time around with factories, gymnastics practice, acupuncture visits and laser eye surgery serving as the new sources of painful death. Emma Bell, Nicholas D’Agosto, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, Jacqueline MacInnes-Wood, P.J. Byrne, Ellen Wroe, David Koechner, Courtney B. Vance and Tony Todd all dance with death this time around with a new twist that if you kill someone else you can take their life. Ethical dilemmas!

Go ahead, tell your friends you’re not going to see this and join us in the back row when this opens on August 12th. We’ll smuggle in the booze. [ComingSoon]
